DOX in Prag, Eröffnungsausstellung "Welcome to Capitalism"

The Archive, assembled by Jiří Hůla and originating in 1984, documents the artistic activities in the former Czechoslovakia. DOX asked the young Czech artist Dominik Lang to create an installation.
In the Archive are hundreds of thousands of items catalogued, which means this is one of the largest such spezialized colection in existence.

The Slovak artist Matej Krén has created The Sediment, a massive installation that consists of a huge curved wall made out of books.

zeigt Simon Wachsmuth "Speculum, Archiv und Erzählung"
Mit der Ausstellung erinnert Wachsmuth an Aby Warburg, dessen Bilderatlas "Mnémosyne" (als Monument der visullen menschlichen Erinnerung) als ein Vorläufer der gegenwärtigen Methoden in der Kunst gilt. Gleichzeitig präsentiert Wachsmuth als GEgenbild zu einem wissenschaftlichen Archiv ein persönliches, anonymes Archiv zum Thema Persien/Iran an. (Kurator Dr. Jiri Sevcik)
In der Innenstadt zeigt die Galerie Topicuv Salon die Gruppenausstellung "introcity",

The building was constructed after a design by Oldřich Tyl and Josef Fuchs in the years 1925-1929.
The building was used long time for trade fairs and trade companies. Since its reconstruction in 1995, the building has housed the National Gallery's collections of modern and contemporary art.
The extensive exhibition space in this Functionalist building is home to over 2,300 exhibits and spans an area of 13,500m2.
The permanent exhibition of 20th and 21st century art on three floors of Veletržní palác acquaints visitors with the development of Czech and foreign fine art during the course of the last two centuries.

Das Haus stammt in seinen Grundfesten aus dem 13. Jahrhundert. Die steinerne Glocke am Ecke wurde im 16. Jhdt angebracht.
Im 14. jhdt wurde das Haus zu einem städtischen Palast ausgebaut.
aus der Zeit auch die Holzdeckenbemalung.
Die Ausstellung zeigt Werke von Veronika Bromová, die tschechische Republik 1999 auf der Venedig Biennale vertrat. Ein Überblick über ihre Fotografien und Videos.
Diese Skulptur bewegte sich "von innen" her.

Meda and Jan Mládek lived USA, but they never ceased to render support to Czechoslovak artists. So they also built a major art collection, which has his focus on the Central European Arts and the Czech arts. The important collection includes many works from Frantisek Kupka and Otto Gutfreund.
